Scheduling

Starting the Process
The path to your new look starts with a phone call to the Pueblo Nuevo Surgery Center office. During this initial conversation, you may pose any questions to our office staff. They are all friendly, helpful, and well informed about our cosmetic surgery practice. They will guide you to an initial idea of the treatment that would be best for you. They can also give you a fee quote, and costs will be finalized after the consultation, when details of your treatment have been arranged.

The staff will schedule your initial consultation, explain how our office works and help you feel comfortable and properly prepared for your initial visit. Once you have scheduled an initial consultation with Dr. Payne, you will receive information by mail to prepare you for the visit.

Pre-consultation Photo Option
One option available to clients is the pre-consultation photo. This can be scheduled during the initial phone call. The pre-consultation photo includes a visit to the office for the staff to take a digital photograph of the body area you are interested in having treated. Dr. Payne reviews the image, and his office staff calls to discuss his comments with you. This helps establish communication even before your initial consultation with Dr. Payne and helps clients understand potential recommended treatment beforehand.

The Initial Consultation
Dr. Payne works out the final details of the procedure with each client at their consultation. He takes a detailed history and performs a physical exam. He thoroughly addresses concerns and questions, and discusses treatment pros and cons and both short- and long-term issues. You may also preview your potential result using our Canfield Mirror Imaging System

We do require clients over 40 years of age to obtain clearance for surgery from their primary care doctor. Some laboratory tests usually need to be done ahead of time as well. All of these issues will be coordinated for you through our office.

The Surgery
We perform most operations under general anesthesia, with the client fully asleep, although we occasionally use local anesthesia with or without intravenous sedation. After the surgery, clients have one-on-one nursing care in the Recovery Room. Most spend one to two hours at our Surgery Center before being discharged to their home or a nearby hotel.

The Pueblo Nuevo Surgery Center has a perfect safety record. We have never had a death or significant injury, despite having operated on thousands of clients. We have never had to stop an operation before it reached its conclusion. We have not had any significant anesthesia-related problems, and have very low levels of postoperative nausea and vomiting. Thorough pain relief is provided in the postoperative period.

After the Surgery
Dr. Payne calls every client the night of surgery to check on them and make sure their caregivers are properly following the detailed postoperative instructions. The morning following surgery, we will call to check once more. The client may reach Dr. Payne 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the office number (209-524-9904) or by calling the Medical Exchange directly (209-577-1040) if they have a problem or question.

Clients are seen frequently after surgery, either daily visits or one to two visits per week. We follow all clients until they are stable, well healed, comfortable, and satisfied with their results. Some clients are asked to return for a visit after one year so that their overall status and result can be evaluated. If any revision treatment is necessary, this is done at significantly reduced fees with every effort made to contain additional expenses.
