Breast Augmentation
Augmentation Mammoplasty
The breast augmentation is one of the most popular procedures in plastic surgery because it has the power to really transform breast and body appearance. Clients tend to be very pleased with the results, which often create better balance between women’s upper and lower bodies and give the breast a more youthful look. The goal is to use breast implants to enlarge breasts and improve shape or create a younger appearance.
Procedure
This surgery may be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. All breast augmentation surgeries are done at Dr. Payne’s MediCare and California state certified Pueblo Nuevo Surgery Center.
Incision options include placement at the lower edge of the areola (periareolar), at the bottom of the breast in the natural skin fold (inframammary crease or IMC), in the armpit (transaxillary), or through the belly button (transumbilical breast augmentation or TUBA).
The client may choose a saline implant or a silicone implant. These have either smooth or textured outer shells and come in a variety of sizes and shapes, including round or shaped implants.
The breast implant may be placed under the breast (subglandular) or under the muscle (partial subpectoral), depending on individual client anatomy and preference.
There are multiple options regarding incisions, implant location, and type and size of the implants. Dr. Payne will present each client with their individualized options after a thorough discussion.

Results
The breast augmentation has a client record of high satisfaction. Most women have bigger lower bodies and more petite upper bodies, which this surgery can help to balance out. Breast augmentation can make nearby areas such as the tummy look better, resulting in an improved figure with sexier curves. Clients may be able to wear a greater variety of clothing styles, enhancing their new figures. This new look conveys the image of youth and fitness and bolsters self-confidence.
Most surgical procedures in plastic surgery are not permanent. Breast implants will require periodical replacement. Breasts will continue to show the effects of aging, gravity, pregnancy, lifestyle issues, and weight changes over time. Women sometimes choose to have additional breast surgery as they age, such as breast lifts or implant removal and replacement, changing size or type of implant. They may also receive treatment for implant leakage or rupture, correction of capsular contracture, and other issues. Dr. Payne gives each client a detailed analysis of possible future outcomes.
After the Surgery
The recovery process is generally rapid. Most clients need only a week off work following the surgery. Gentle exercise can begin within a week and may progress to vigorous exercise within three to four weeks. Dr. Payne will provide each client with a detailed set of postoperative instructions as well as several medications aimed at minimizing discomfort. All clients are followed closely until they are well healed and back to normal.
