DR. PAYNE 2017 WINTER NEWSLETTER
FACIAL SKIN CARE AND PREVENTION OF AGING
As we all age our bodies continue to change due to the aging process as well as being significantly influenced by diet, exercise, stress, exposure to the sun, smoking cigarettes and/or drinking alcohol. What we inherit from our parents genetically is very powerful and some people simply look better than others as a result. Human brains are hard wired for beauty. Studies reveal that even babies react more positively to a picture of a nice looking man or woman as compared to someone that doesn’t look as good. We all want to look our best and easy solutions are always more desirable than complicated ones when that choice is available.
If you take care of your skin (face, neck, upper chest, arms, and legs) beginning when you are a young adult you will look steadily better than friends your same age who do not have a regimen of self-care. So, the question is what can each of us do to look our best and in turn feel our best in this regard?
The answers are relatively simple and we will focus on skin care with the November/December Plastic Surgery Newsletter. There are several key things that must be done to have nice looking skin. The ideal regimen includes a cleanser, moisturizer, bleaching cream or skin lightener, sunscreens and something “active” to proactively improve the quality and appearance of the skin. These active agents include RetinA in a variety of forms, TNS, glycolic acid products, and other topicals. You must avoid direct exposure to the Ultra Violet light that the sun emits so when outdoors use SPF 50 or above, hats, and long sleeved shirts.
In our office we have 4 different skin care regimens that we offer our clients. These products are inexpensive and work very effectively. They are readily combined with botox and fillers and sometimes we will perform full face croton oil peels on people in order to smooth out lines around the eyes and mouth, tighten the skin, and provide a uniformly even healthy color to the skin. Croton oil peels can also be done on a more limited basis including around the eyes or mouth depending on what the client is looking to improve. They produce phenomenal results. Dr. Payne has some clients that look 15 years younger following croton oil peels. Recently Dr. Payne had his own eyes treated with a croton oil peel and he has gotten an excellent result and is very happy with the way he looks—many patients have told him how much better his face looks as a result of the eyelid peel.
Finally, for those people with a lot of sun damage to their skin where their skin color is very splotchy with lots of brown spots and other pigment irregularities Broad Band Light Therapy works very effectively. For optimal results different clients need different skin care programs tailored to their specific needs. Diane Payne, RN has run the Pueblo Nuevo Laser and Skin Care Center for 25 years and is the most experienced skin care nurse in this area.
If you are interested in having a skin consult to find out what might work best for you contact our office and have a consultation with Diane. Maybe have some of these treatments when there is a “Special” going on. The “Specials” change every month and are a good way to try something new in an affordable way.
